It is with deep sorrow that I write this...Mattie passed away on April 25, 2009, and there really are no words for how all of us at Angel Acres
feels about this terrible loss. Mattie brought much joy (and lots of attitude lol) to Angel Acres.
We are all better for having known him.
Here it is nearly 1 year after we lost Mattie, and it is still incredibly painful to write about him. I have a hard time seeing through,
the tears to type, not drama, just fact. Mattie was truly the most wonderful, unique, kindnest horse I have ever met.
His life was able to touch and change
the lives of so many other horses and people...he was deeply, deeply loved here at Angel Acres.
Below is a quick glimpse of his life here, it does not cover
the day to day joy he brought us...nudging Dr. Wells as he walked by, seeing Chuck's truck pull up and know he was there to see him. He and Chuck had
a very special bond, Chuck was here when Mattie left us, all of the Angel Acres gang was here.
Ok, I can't write anymore...will write more in a few
days...read below (its from Early 2007).
Mine is the WORST case of founder that Chuck has ever seen in the 20 years he has been blacksmithing...
If only someone had taken a little care of my tootsies, this would never have happened to me.
Everyone here is sad for me, but I am glad they care and are helping me to get better!
It was extremely painful for me, but I stood still for the nice people helping me!
Thank you Jo and Chuck for helping my tootsies get better
Love,
Mattie

Chuck: Taking care of my feet!
Here is my finished foot! I am very sore, but at least I can stand correctly...
I get a kiss from Miss Jo because I was such a good boy for Chuck!

Here I am today....feeling much better, thanks to Jo and Chuck

Mattie
